Joseph Mohr (Austrian Roman Catholic priest and writer)

* Joseph Mohr wrote the words to the Christmas carol "Silent Night" [German: "Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht"]. He had Mercury unaspected in Capricorn in the 10th House. The song was first performed by a choir with Mohr on guitar because the local church organ wasn't working. An 1820 manuscript of the song surfaced publicly in 1995, having been held in a private collection for 175 years. Written by Mohr, it states that he wrote the words in 1816. They were put to music in 1818. The U.S. copyright office has registered 733 versions of the song, recognized as the best known and most popular of carols. Unaspected planets can work in weird and wonderful ways.

Sachin Tendulkar (Indian cricketer)

* Sachin Tendulkar is widely acknowledged as the greatest batsman of his generation. The doctor who delivered him on 24 April 1973 reveals in an interview that Tendulkar was born at 1 p.m.

John Barnes Chance, 1932–1972 (American composer)

* John Barnes Chance is best known for his concert band works, which include Variations on a Korean Folk Song, Incantation and Dance, and Blue Lake Overture. Many of his works are written for young musicians, particularly those written between 1960 and 1962. Before he became a full-time composer, Chance played timpani with the Austin Symphony and later was an arranger for the Fourth and Eighth U.S. Army bands. Chance taught at the University of Kentucky from 1966 until his death in 1972. In August 1972, Chance was airing a tent in his garden when a metal pole contacted an electrified fence used to confine his dogs. Chance was accidentally electrocuted and died at 12:40 p.m. at Central Baptist Hospital from cardiac arrest.

Juke Boy Bonner, 1932–1978 (American blues singer, harmonica player, and guitarist)

* Juke Boy Bonner was influenced by Lightnin' Hopkins, Jimmy Reed, and Slim Harpo. He described the bleak prospects of black urban existence in songs like "Life is a Nightmare", "Struggle Here in Houston" and "Going Back to the Country", accompanying himself on guitar, harmonica and drums in the self-sufficient one-man band mode of Joe Hill Louis and Dr. Ross.

Bonner had Pluto in the 1st House in close trine with Mars in Pisces on the MC.

Tex Beneke, 1914–2000 (American saxophonist, singer, and bandleader)

* Tex Beneke's career is a history of associations with bandleader Glenn Miller and former musicians and singers who worked with Miller. His band is also associated with the careers of Eydie Gorme, Henry Mancini and Ronnie Deauville. Beneke also solos on the recording the Glenn Miller Orchestra made of their popular song "In The Mood" and sings on another popular Glenn Miller recording, "Chattanooga Choo Choo". Jazz critic Will Friedwald considers Beneke to be one of the major blues singers who sang with the big bands of the early 1940s. "One of the major blues singers"?? That's Saturn rising in Gemini ruled by Mercury in Pisces talking!

Freddie King, 1934–1976 (American blues guitarist, singer, a.k.a "The Texas Cannonball")

* Freddie King — who had the regal Sun on his MC conjunct musical Neptune — is often mentioned as one of "the Three Kings" of electric blues guitar, along with Albert King and B.B. King, as well as being the youngest of the three. Nicknamed "The Texas Cannonball," King had Pluto at the very end of the 8th House, trine and ruling his Scorpio Ascendant.

WIKIPEDIA BLURB

Freddie King based his guitar style on Texas and Chicago influences and was one of the first bluesmen to have a multi-racial backing band onstage with him at live performances. He is best known for singles such as "Have You Ever Loved A Woman" (1960) and his Top 40 hit "Hide Away" (1961). He is also known for albums such as the early, instrumental-packed Let's Hide Away and Dance Away with Freddy King (1961) and the later album Burglar (1974), which displayed King's mature versatility as both player and singer in a range of blues and funk styles.

Evan Rachel Wood (American actress and singer)

* Evan Rachel Wood reportedly tweeted that she was born at 1:12 p.m., but I have her birth certificate on file clearly stating 1:24 p.m. as her time of birth.

Wood has been described by The Guardian as "one of the best actresses of her generation."

She has the dramatic Sun conjunct her MC and Jupiter in the last degree of Aries in the 5th, the house of acting. The Sun and Jupiter co-rule Uranus in the Leo decan of Sagittarius in the 1st house.

WIKIPEDIA BLURB

Evan Rachel Wood began her acting career in the late 1990s, appearing in several television series, including American Gothic (1995–1996) and Once and Again (1999–2002). She made her début as a leading film actress at the age of nine in Digging to China (1998) and became well known after her transition to a more adult-oriented Golden Globe-nominated role in the teen drama film Thirteen (2003).[2] Wood continued acting mostly in independent films, including Pretty Persuasion (2005), Down in the Valley (2006), Running with Scissors (2006), and in the big studio production Across the Universe (2007). Since 2008, Wood has appeared in more mainstream films, including The Wrestler (2008), Whatever Works (2009) and The Ides of March (2011). She has also returned to television, playing the supporting role of Queen Sophie-Anne on True Blood from 2009 to 2011 and playing Kate Winslet's daughter in the HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce (2011), a role for which she was nominated for the Golden Globe and Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Vanessa L. Williams (American singer, actress, producer, fashion model)

* In 1983, 20-year-old Vanessa L. Williams became the first African-American woman crowned Miss America, but a scandal arose when Penthouse magazine bought and published nude photographs of her. Saturn conjunct Venus in the 8th house can put great obstacles in the path of the most talented of beauties but these obstacles can, in turn, pave the way for well-deserved success. Williams relinquished her Miss America title and rebounded from this early setback by launching a career as a singer and actor, earning multiple Grammy, Emmy, and Tony Award nominations in the process. She is probably the most successful Miss America winner to have entered the entertainment field.

In their mother-and-daughter biography, Helen Williams writes, "On the front of Vanessa's birth announcement there's a drawing of a smiling baby girl wearing a big crown and holding a scepter. It reads, 'Here she is—Miss America.'" The book includes a photo of the prophetic baby card, showing Vanessa's middle name as "Lynne" and a birth time of 11:28 a.m. Due to copyright restrictions I won't publish this image but it can be viewed here on the Amazon Books website. Romy Ransom did brilliant work obtaining the same data, including the birth time, from Williams three decades ago in the early days of Williams' career.

WIKIPEDIA BLURB

Vanessa Williams released her debut album The Right Stuff in 1988, which spawned the hits "The Right Stuff", a No. 1 on Hot Dance Songs, and "Dreamin'" a No. 1 on R&B and No. 8 on Billboard Hot 100. Her second studio album The Comfort Zone in 1991 topped the Billboard R&B Album Chart, which spawned the Billboard Hot 100 number-one hit "Save the Best for Last". In 1994 she debuted on Broadway in the musical Kiss of the Spider Woman. In 1995 she recorded "Colors of the Wind", the Oscar-winner for Best Original Song from the Disney animated feature film Pocahontas, which reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Williams's first major film role was as the star of the feature film Eraser in 1996. She also starred in the movies Soul Food, Dance with Me, The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland, Shaft and Johnson Family Vacation. From 2006 to 2010, she played the role of the scheming, self-absorbed diva and former supermodel Wilhelmina Slater in the ABC comedy series Ugly Betty, for which she received three Emmy Awards nominations. In 2009, Williams released her eighth studio album, The Real Thing. From 2010 to 2012, she starred in Desperate Housewives as spoiled rich woman Renee Perry. She starred in the supernatural drama series 666 Park Avenue in 2012.

BIRTH DATA: Vanessa Lynne Williams, 18 March 1963, 11:28 (11:28 a.m.) EST (+5), Millwood (?), New York, USA (41n12, 73w48). ASC: 9 Cancer. RR: AA (from quoted baby card reproduced in a biography). SOURCE: Sy Scholfield (©) quotes Vanessa Williams and Helen Williams, with Irene Zutell, You Have No Idea: A Famous Daughter, Her No-nonsense Mother, and How They Survived Pageants, Hollywood, Love, Loss (and Each Other) (New York: Gotham/Penguin, 2012), p. 73: "Vanessa was born ten days late on March 18, 1963, at 11:28 A.M., weighing seven pounds seven ounces, and measuring twenty inches." A photograph of Vanessa's baby card stating the same information appears on page 75 (view image here). Previously, Romy Ransom quoted Williams in person for the same data when Williams was a beauty contestant. Williams' place of birth has been given as Tarrytown, Millwood and the Bronx, all in New York state. Whichever of these places she was born in (or somewhere in between) does not change the Ascendant or Moon degrees.

Johnny Mathis (American singer)

* Johnny Mathis's birth record has been cited for a time of 12 midnight, but I have Mathis's birth certificate on file, clearly stating "12 noon" (see image below). Mathis has sold over a third of a billion records during his outstanding career as a singer of love songs and other popular music. His many gold records are represented by the golden Sun in romantic Libra on the MC at the apex of a Yod with Saturn and Uranus. The Sun opposes Eris on his IC making a Boomerang pattern: he has yo-yoed on the subject of his sexuality. He came out as gay in a 1982 magazine article, but later retracted the statement, then, after more than 20 years of silence on the subject, he revealed in 2006 that his silence was because of death threats he received as a result of coming out in 1982. No doubt two features of his chart were involved in the death threats and his guarding of his privacy: Jupiter in Scorpio in his 12th ruling his Sagittarius Ascendant, plus Moon in Scorpio in mutual reception with Jupiter's ruler Pluto in the 8th house.

WIKIPEDIA BLURB

John Royce "Johnny" Mathis (born September 30, 1935, Gilmer, Texas, United States) started his career with singles of standard music, becoming highly popular as an album artist, with several dozen of his albums achieving gold or platinum status, and 73 making the Billboard charts. Guinness World Record music chart historian Paul Gambaccini confirms "Johnny Mathis has sold well over 350 million records worldwide".

One of the last and most popular in a line of traditional male vocalists who emerged before the rock-dominated 1960s, Johnny Mathis concentrated on the romantic side of jazz and pop music standards for the adult contemporary audience of the 1960s and 1970s. Mathis later made it big in the market for music albums, where a dozen of his LPs hit gold or platinum. While he concentrated on theme-oriented albums of show tunes and traditional favorites during the 1960s, he began incorporating soft rock by the 1970s and remained a popular concert attraction well into the 1990s.

Capucine, 1928-1990 (French fashion model, actress, suicide)

* Capucine - the beautiful comedienne - was best known for her comedic roles in the feline-titled films, The Pink Panther (1963) and What's New Pussycat? (1965). Funnily enough, she had cinematic Neptune in Leo, the sign of the Lion/ess - without close aspects - except for a square to lovely Venus in side-splitting Sagittarius which ruled her Taurus Ascendant. Tragically, a quarter century after she hit the heights of stardom, Capucine jumped from her eighth-floor apartment to her death. Perhaps her suicidal fall was a symptom of her Capricorn Sun on the MC opposite Pluto on her IC?

Many thanks to Marc Brun for sending me her birth certificate.

WIKIPEDIA BLURB

Capucine (6 January 1928 – 17 March 1990) appeared in 36 films and 17 television productions between 1948 and 1990.

In her teens, she became a fashion model, working for fashion houses Givenchy and Christian Dior. She adopted the name, "Capucine" (French for nasturtium). She met Hollywood actress Audrey Hepburn modeling in Givenchy (with whom Hepburn was best friends and whose muse she was) in Paris. The two would remain close friends for the rest of Capucine's life.

On the set of Rendez-vous (1949), she met Pierre Trabaud; they married the next year. The marriage lasted only eight months, and Capucine never married again. She met actor William Holden in the early 1960s. They starred in the films The Lion (1962) and The 7th Dawn (1964). Holden was married to Brenda Marshall, but the two began a two-year affair. After the affair ended, she and Holden remained friends until Holden's death in 1981.

On 17 March 1990, Capucine jumped from her eighth-floor apartment in Lausanne, Switzerland, where she had lived for 28 years, having reportedly suffered from illness and depression for some time.

Cornélie Falcon, 1814–1897 (French soprano)

* Biographies give Cornélie Falcon's year of birth as 1812 or 1814, while her place of birth is stated as the town of Le Monastier sur Gazeille in the Haute-Loire département in south-central France. However, a simple check of the birth records shows that she was born at rue du Béthizy, n° 10, quartier Saint-Honoré in Paris in 1814. Her Gemini Ascendant was ruled by Mercury in Capricorn. Like the Goat that scales mountains, her voice could climb from low A-flat to high D.

WIKIPEDIA BLURB

Cornélie Falcon (28 January 1814 – 25 February 1897) was a French soprano who sang at the Opéra in Paris. Her greatest success was creating the role of Valentine in Meyerbeer's Les Huguenots. She possessed "a full, resonant voice" with a distinctive dark timbre and was an exceptional actress. Based on the roles written for her voice her vocal range spanned from low A-flat to high D, 2.5 octaves. She and the tenor Adolphe Nourrit are credited with being primarily responsible for raising artistic standards at the Opéra, and the roles in which she excelled came to be known as "falcon soprano" parts. She had an exceptionally short career, essentially ending about five years after her debut, when at the age of 23 she lost her voice during a performance of Niedermeyer's Stradella.

Carrie Hamilton,1963–2002 (American actress, singer, playwright)

* Comedienne Carol Burnett reveals in a recent book that her daughter Carrie Hamilton was born at 11:20 in the morning. Hamilton - who died from lung and brain cancer, aged 38 - had an angular fixed t-square with Saturn right on the Ascendant opposite the Moon; both planets square Neptune in Scorpio high in the chart. Her Neptune is ruled by Pluto on the Vertex and is conjunct Uranus. Mother and daughter have Saturn closely conjunct, indicting that Hamilton was born near to Burnett's Saturn return.

WIKIPEDIA BLURB

Carrie Louise Hamilton (December 5, 1963 in New York City – January 20, 2002, in Los Angeles) was an American actress, singer, and playwright. She was the daughter of comedienne Carol Burnett and producer Joe Hamilton.

Hamilton worked in a number of productions for stage, film, video, and television.

Carrie Hamilton died from lung and brain cancer January 20, 2002, in Los Angeles at the age of 38. Carrie had started smoking cigarettes as a teenager.

Ben Webster, 1909-1973 (American musician)

* Ben Webster ― the influential American jazz tenor saxophonist nicknamed "Frog" ― had musical Neptune rising in the amphibious Scorpio decan of Cancer. Also known affectionately as "The Brute," he had the first degree of Aries on his MC plus a Sun-Saturn conjunction in Mars's sign.

WIKIPEDIA BIOGRAPHY

Benjamin Francis Webster (March 27, 1909 – September 20, 1973) was considered one of the three most important "swing tenors" along with Coleman Hawkins and Lester Young. Known affectionately as "The Brute", he had a tough, raspy, and brutal tone on stomps (with his own distinctive growls), yet on ballads he played with warmth and sentiment. Stylistically he was indebted to alto star Johnny Hodges, who, he said, taught him to play his instrument.
