Khan established himself in Bollywood in the 1990s with roles in several top-grossing productions. After a brief period of decline in the 2000s, he achieved greater stardom in the 2010s by playing the lead role in several successful action films, including Dabangg (2010), Bodyguard (2011), Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Kick (2014) and Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015), Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015). For the last of these, Khan was sentenced to a five-year imprisonment in 2015. Later on Salman was acquitted of all charges in the hit-and-run case by the Bombay High Court.

Anna Massey, 1937–2011 (English actress)

* In her obituary in The Guardian, Anna Massey is headlined as an "Award-winning actor with a fastidious intelligence and a hint of inner steel." The obit adds that "her Bafta-winning performance as the lonely writer of romantic fiction on holiday in Switzerland in Hotel du Lac (1986), . . . was the sort of role in which Massey was supreme: placid on the surface, with passion deep within her." These descriptions befit her Scorpio Ascendant. Indeed, she even played "The Iron Lady" Margaret Thatcher in Pinochet in Suburbia (2006). Massey and Thatcher both have Scorpio rising.

In Peeping Tom (1960), Massey appeared as "the naive downstairs neighbour of a psychotic landlord" conveying "a cold and repressed character on screen." Her other Scorpionic roles include a vampire who serves her murderer his blood disguised as tomato juice in Vault of Horror (1973) and a creepy Mrs Danvers in Rebecca (1979).

Massey had the Sun in Leo high in the sky and she came from a noted acting family: she was the daughter of British actress Adrianne Allen and Canadian-born Hollywood actor Raymond Massey. Her godfather was film director John Ford.

Note: The report mentions that Raymond Massey was in hospital in Hollywood with phlebitis at the time; BST (-1) is 9 hours ahead of PST (+8) so Anna was born at 3 p.m. BST in England equal to 6 a.m. PST in California.

Vanessa L. Williams (American singer, actress, producer, fashion model)

* In 1983, 20-year-old Vanessa L. Williams became the first African-American woman crowned Miss America, but a scandal arose when Penthouse magazine bought and published nude photographs of her. Saturn conjunct Venus in the 8th house can put great obstacles in the path of the most talented of beauties but these obstacles can, in turn, pave the way for well-deserved success. Williams relinquished her Miss America title and rebounded from this early setback by launching a career as a singer and actor, earning multiple Grammy, Emmy, and Tony Award nominations in the process. She is probably the most successful Miss America winner to have entered the entertainment field.

In their mother-and-daughter biography, Helen Williams writes, "On the front of Vanessa's birth announcement there's a drawing of a smiling baby girl wearing a big crown and holding a scepter. It reads, 'Here she is—Miss America.'" The book includes a photo of the prophetic baby card, showing Vanessa's middle name as "Lynne" and a birth time of 11:28 a.m. Due to copyright restrictions I won't publish this image but it can be viewed here on the Amazon Books website. Romy Ransom did brilliant work obtaining the same data, including the birth time, from Williams three decades ago in the early days of Williams' career.

WIKIPEDIA BLURB

Vanessa Williams released her debut album The Right Stuff in 1988, which spawned the hits "The Right Stuff", a No. 1 on Hot Dance Songs, and "Dreamin'" a No. 1 on R&B and No. 8 on Billboard Hot 100. Her second studio album The Comfort Zone in 1991 topped the Billboard R&B Album Chart, which spawned the Billboard Hot 100 number-one hit "Save the Best for Last". In 1994 she debuted on Broadway in the musical Kiss of the Spider Woman. In 1995 she recorded "Colors of the Wind", the Oscar-winner for Best Original Song from the Disney animated feature film Pocahontas, which reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Williams's first major film role was as the star of the feature film Eraser in 1996. She also starred in the movies Soul Food, Dance with Me, The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland, Shaft and Johnson Family Vacation. From 2006 to 2010, she played the role of the scheming, self-absorbed diva and former supermodel Wilhelmina Slater in the ABC comedy series Ugly Betty, for which she received three Emmy Awards nominations. In 2009, Williams released her eighth studio album, The Real Thing. From 2010 to 2012, she starred in Desperate Housewives as spoiled rich woman Renee Perry. She starred in the supernatural drama series 666 Park Avenue in 2012.

SOURCE: Sy Scholfield (©) quotes Vanessa Williams and Helen Williams, with Irene Zutell, You Have No Idea: A Famous Daughter, Her No-nonsense Mother, and How They Survived Pageants, Hollywood, Love, Loss (and Each Other) (New York: Gotham/Penguin, 2012), p. 73: "Vanessa was born ten days late on March 18, 1963, at 11:28 A.M., weighing seven pounds seven ounces, and measuring twenty inches." A photograph of Vanessa's baby card stating the same information appears on page 75 (view image here). Previously, Romy Ransom quoted Williams in person for the same data when Williams was a beauty contestant. Williams' place of birth has been given as Tarrytown, Millwood and the Bronx, all in New York state. Whichever of these places she was born in (or somewhere in between) does not change the Ascendant or Moon degrees.

Capucine, 1928-1990 (French fashion model, actress, suicide)

* Capucine - the beautiful comedienne - was best known for her comedic roles in the feline-titled films, The Pink Panther (1963) and What's New Pussycat? (1965). Funnily enough, she had cinematic Neptune in Leo, the sign of the Lion/ess - without close aspects - except for a square to lovely Venus in side-splitting Sagittarius which ruled her Taurus Ascendant. Tragically, a quarter century after she hit the heights of stardom, Capucine jumped from her eighth-floor apartment to her death. Perhaps her suicidal fall was a symptom of her Capricorn Sun on the MC opposite Pluto on her IC?

Many thanks to Marc Brun for sending me her birth certificate.

WIKIPEDIA BLURB

Capucine (6 January 1928 – 17 March 1990) appeared in 36 films and 17 television productions between 1948 and 1990.

In her teens, she became a fashion model, working for fashion houses Givenchy and Christian Dior. She adopted the name, "Capucine" (French for nasturtium). She met Hollywood actress Audrey Hepburn modeling in Givenchy (with whom Hepburn was best friends and whose muse she was) in Paris. The two would remain close friends for the rest of Capucine's life.

On the set of Rendez-vous (1949), she met Pierre Trabaud; they married the next year. The marriage lasted only eight months, and Capucine never married again. She met actor William Holden in the early 1960s. They starred in the films The Lion (1962) and The 7th Dawn (1964). Holden was married to Brenda Marshall, but the two began a two-year affair. After the affair ended, she and Holden remained friends until Holden's death in 1981.

On 17 March 1990, Capucine jumped from her eighth-floor apartment in Lausanne, Switzerland, where she had lived for 28 years, having reportedly suffered from illness and depression for some time.

Julie Vellay Pissarro (French artist's model)

* Julie Vellay, who was the mistress, then the wife, of the painter Camille Pissarro (known as the "Father of Impressionism"), also posed for him. As the devoted mother to their brood of children, she had the Moon in the domestic 4th House on the IC. Her Moon was in artistic Pisces under trine from Saturn in Scorpio on her Ascendant: They had eight children, one who died at birth and one daughter who died aged nine. The surviving children all painted, and Lucien (see his chart), the oldest son, became a landscape artist.

Biography

Julie Vellay, the peasant daughter of a vineyard grower, was employed as a maid in the household of the mother of Camille Pissarro (1830-1903). Vellay became his mistress in 1860 and they were married in London in 1871 while she was pregnant with their third child. After returning to France later that year they lived outside of Paris in Pontoise and later in Louveciennes, both places inspiring many of his paintings including scenes of village life, along with rivers, woods, and people at work. Julie Pissarro died, aged 87, on 16 May 1926 in Éragny, Oise, France.

Xiao Qian, 1910-1999 (Chinese writer, literary figure)

* For some Taurus-rising folk discovering the details of their birth can be a long and slow process. Xiao Qian ― one of China's finest writers ― did not find out his Western birthdate until he was almost 70. Apparently Venus ruling from the first degree of Pisces kept the information hidden. Xiao, who wrote over six million words in one series of books, had MC conjunct Mercury and the Sun, the latter ruling his 3rd House.

Wikipedia Biography

Xiao Qian (27 January 1910 – 11 February 1999) was a famous essayist, editor, journalist and translator from China. His life spanned the country before and after the establishment of the People's Republic of China.

As a journalist, he wrote a variety of publications. One of them is his book: xin bian wen shi biji cong shu. The series contains 50 books, in which 6,000,000 words were written. These series were written between the 1980s and early 1990s. The books collected a range of anecdotes and highlights from over 2000 celebrities and researchers. The series became highly reputable and widely accepted when it was released. As the last volume of the series was published in October 1994, another edition of the series were published in Hong Kong and Taiwan shortly after. The work was awarded the "Chinese Book Prize" as early as in 1993.

Written by Xiao between 1939 and 1946, the books, Symphony of Contradictions, Bloody September, and London under Silver Kites reflected his experience during the Second World War while he was living in the United Kingdom and Western Europe. They were mostly concerned with the day to day life of ordinary English citizens. They contained an analysis or speculation about political and military matters. While he was impressed by the determination of the English to defeat Germany, he also observed their negative cultural traits.

SOURCE: Sy Scholfield (c) quotes Xiao Qian, Traveller Without a Map [1990]. Trans. Jeffrey C. Kinkley (Stanford University Press, 1993), pp. 1-4: "the north-eastern slums of Peking where I was born . . . But every year, when the seventeenth day of the last lunar month came round, my elders would tell me I'd grown a year older. . . 'You were born in the first year of the Xuantong Emperor [Puyi]' she [my mother] told me. . . an aunt said crossly, 'Gracious, no wonder you noon-born cocks are called troublemakers! (Roosters are supposed to disturb people in the morning, not at mid-day). With that I even knew what time of day I was born . . . Professor Hans Frankel took down a book of conversion tables from his shelf and pinpointed the date of my birth in the Western calendar as 27 January 1910. It took him only a minute or two but the information was very welcome. It came just in time for my seventieth birthday, which otherwise I might very well have missed."

The London Underground, 1863 (Event data and charts)

* Queen Elizabeth II has visited Baker Street Underground station to celebrate the Tube's 150th anniversary. We have at least two charts for the London Underground: Chart 'A' for the opening of The Metropolitan Railway (as it was then known) on 9 January 1863, circa 13:05 (1.05 p.m.) and Chart 'B' for the opening of "The Met" to the public the next day at about 6 a.m.

The London Underground (otherwise known as the Underground or the Tube) is a metro system in the United Kingdom, serving a large part of Greater London and some parts of Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex. The system serves 270 stations and has 402 kilometres (250 mi) of track, 45 per cent of which is underground. Since 2003 LUL has been a wholly owned subsidiary of Transport for London (TfL), the statutory corporation responsible for most aspects of the transport system in Greater London, which is run by a board and a commissioner appointed by the Mayor of London.

It incorporates the first underground railway in the world, which opened in 1863 and now forms part of the Circle, Hammersmith & City, and Metropolitan lines and the first line to operate underground electric trains, in 1890, now part of the Northern line. The first tunnels were built just below the surface; later circular tunnels (tubes) were dug through the London Clay. When the Central London Railway opened in 1900, it was known as the "twopenny tube". The lines were marketed as the UNDERGROUND in the early 20th century on maps and signs outside stations. Originally private companies owned and ran the railways and in 1933 these merged to form the London Passenger Transport Board. Harry Beck's tube map appeared for the first time in 1933. The Victoria line was opened 1968–71 and the Jubilee line in 1979, and this was extended in 1999. The Travelcard was introduced in the mid 1980s and the Oyster card in 2003.

Today in official publicity, the term 'tube' embraces the whole underground system, and the tube map now includes the other TfL railways such as the Docklands Light Railway and London Overground as well as the Emirates Air Line. It is the fourth largest metro system in the world in terms of route miles, after the Seoul Metropolitan Subway, Shanghai Metro and the Beijing Subway. It also has one of the largest numbers of stations. In 2011/12 there were 1.2 billion passengers making it the third busiest metro system in Europe, after Moscow and Paris.[citation needed] As of 2011, 86 per cent of operational expenditure on the London Underground is covered by passenger fares. The oldest sections of the London Underground completed 150 years of operations on 10 January 2013. The system is currently being upgraded to increase capacity.

HOROSCOPE NOTES

Chart 'A' seems to refer to the infrastructure: Mercury is at 29 Capricorn on the MC in the subterranean 8th House, with Mercury ruling the Gemini Ascendant. Chart 'B' seems to represent the 'public' - the 'face' of the subway system and the people using it: The Moon (public) is high in the sky ruling the 8th House, and Jupiter on the MC rules the Sagittarian Ascendant.
