UPDATE: Robert Millar (Scottish road racing cyclist)

* Robert Millar won the "King of the Mountains" competition in the 1984 Tour de France and finished fourth overall. Millar was the first rider from an English speaking country to have won the Mountains classification in the Tour de France. This success was the first time a British rider won a major Tour classification, and was unsurpassed as the highest Tour finish for a Briton until Bradley Wiggins was retrospectively placed third in the 2009 Tour de France. He is one of only four Britons to have won a Tour de France jersey competition along with Wiggins, Chris Froome and Mark Cavendish. He rode the Tour de France eleven times completing the race eight times.

His biography states he was born at 6:15 AM (no source given) but Caroline Gerard kindly looked up his birth entry in the registry which states 6:15 PM. Both sets of data and charts are displayed below. Either way, Millar is at least a quintuple Virgo - with both luminaries plus three planets in this sign. (Ironically, his biography is subtitled "Unravelling the Mystery Surrounding Britain's Most Successful Tour de France Cyclist" yet this book leaves the reader wondering if "AM" is a typo or not, and if not, the exact nature of the source of this info).

Guy Martin (British motorcycle racer, lorry mechanic, TV presenter)

* Guy Martin primarily competed in road racing events such as the Isle of Man TT, Ulster Grand Prix and North West 200. Widely regarded as an amiable and "colourful" character, Martin has at times found it difficult to concentrate on his racing, primarily as a consequence of the media attention he attracts, not least at the Isle of Man TT.

Martin has also courted a certain degree of controversy, both with race officials and team principals. Since 2011, Martin has also found success as the front man of several television programmes focusing on his passions of engineering, motor vehicles and speed.

He has Uranus unaspected in the last degree of Scorpio.

BIRTH DATA: 4 November 1981, 22:05 (10:05 PM) GMT (+0), Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, England (53n35, 0w05). ASC: 8 Leo. RR: B (Autobiography). SOURCE: Sy Scholfield quotes from his book, Guy Martin: My Autobiography (Virgin Digital, 2014): "in Grimsby, in 1981. I was born in the maternity hospital in Nunsthorpe . . . at eight at night the midwife told them nothing would happen until midnight, so Dad . . . missed me being born at just gone ten. . . On 4 November 1981, the Martin family, now with . . . a day old baby boy, left hospital. . ."

N.B. This indicates that he was born on 3 November but all other references including the "About the Author" blurb in his book state he was born on 4 November.

Mick Fanning (Australian professional surfer)

* Mick Fanning has recently become a triple world surfing champion, having won the 2007, 2009 and 2013 ASP World Tours.

His Taurus Ascendant is ruled by Venus (conjunct Mercury) in watery Cancer, indicating a love of the ocean. Venus is in mutual reception with the Moon in Libra, surely keeping him balanced on his surfboard. Fanning is nicknamed "White Lightning" because his style is lightning fast: electrical Uranus in powerful Scorpio squares and rules his MC.

Check out the awesome pipeline and rip-curl shots on his website (www.mickfanning.com.au).

Doug Brown (American professional skateboarder)

* Doug Brown has vocal Mercury in sporty Leo on his Midheaven.

Now aged 40, he continues his career as a pro-skateboarder while working as a motivational speaker at schools and detention centres. His Grand Fire Trine gives him plenty of energy to burn. Jupiter in Aquarius (opposite his Mercury) makes his Grand Trine into a Kite pattern, helping him to harness this energy and soar.

Joseph Pilates (German-American bodybuilder, inventor of the "Pilates" method)

* Joseph Pilates (1883–1967) invented and promoted the Pilates method of physical fitness. His birth certificate has been published online revealing 12:30 a.m. as his time of birth. (The writing says "halb ein uhr" (half to one) rather than "halb vier uhr" (half to four) if we compare with the hand-writing of "neunten" in the same document). Pilates had health-conscious Uranus rising in Virgo and a control-freak triple conjunction of Pluto-Chiron-Saturn, with Pluto in the last degree of Taurus, the sign of the physical body. The Pilates method was first called "Contrology" by Mr. Pilates, based on the idea of muscle control. His Moon is in muscular Aries sextile his Saturn and Part of Fortune.

Sachin Tendulkar (Indian cricketer)

* Sachin Tendulkar is widely acknowledged as the greatest batsman of his generation. The doctor who delivered him on 24 April 1973 reveals in an interview that Tendulkar was born at 1 p.m.
The "god of cricket" has the sporty/religious Sagittarian decan of Leo on his Ascendant ruled by the masterly Sun on the MC.

James Hird (Australian rules footballer, coach)

* Last week, former footballer and former coach James Hird started his 12 month ban from working at any Australian Football League (AFL) club in any capacity. The ban followed Hird's admission that he had brought the game into disrepute because of his involvement in the use of injected performance enhancing supplements by his team. Hird's solar arc Jupiter in Pisces and MC in Taurus are both quincunx his natal Pluto in Libra. Transiting Neptune is also conjunct his solar arc Jupiter.

Dee Caffari (British sailor)

* Dee Caffari — the double record-holding, round-the-world-non-stop, solo yachtswoman — has sailor Neptune in adventurous Sagittarius sextile solitary Pluto, the ruler of her indefatigable Scorpio Ascendant. Caffari has a bucket shape in her chart with Saturn in Gemini as the handle. In her case, the bucket calls to mind the hull of a yacht, with Neptune signifying the base of the mast and Saturn-the-singleton resembling the top of the mast. Meanwhile, Pluto in aspect to these planets-in-opposition makes a wedge pattern that evokes the triangle of the main sail.

WIKIPEDIA BLURB

Denise "Dee" Caffari, MBE (born in 1973) is a British sailor, and in 2006 became the first woman to sail single-handedly and non-stop around the world "the wrong way"; westward against the prevailing winds and currents. In February 2009, Caffari completed the Vendée Globe race and set a new record to become the first woman to sail solo, non-stop, around the world in both directions.

Marc Edwards (American pro' football player)

* Marc Edwards - described as an "old-school battering ram of a Super Bowl champion" - has sporty Sagittarius rising and wham-bam-thankyou-ram Mars in Scorpio ruling Pluto on his MC. Interestingly, he has timelord Saturn in maternal Cancer exactly quincunx his Ascendant: according to his biography his mother's watch stopped at the exact moment he was born.

WIKIPEDIA BLURB

Marc Alexander Edwards (born November 17, 1974) last played in the NFL in 2005 for the Chicago Bears.

Edwards was named Ohio's Mr. Football in 1992 as the state's top player. He was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the second round (55th overall) of the 1997 NFL Draft. Connie Mack, 1862–1956 (American professional baseball player, manager, and team owner)

* Connie Mack ― "the Grand Old Man of baseball" ― was the longest-serving manager in Major League Baseball history. He was "born just before midnight" most probably with very late Virgo on his Ascendant. As a player he would needle batters to distract them, and as a manager he created a Code of Conduct for players (including the motto: "I will do my utmost to keep myself clean ― physically, mentally, and morally"). With Sun and Moon in a Capricorn stellium ruled by Saturn in Libra on the Ascendant, he was known as the "Tall Tactician."

WIKIPEDIA BIOGRAPHY

Cornelius McGillicuddy, Sr (December 22, 1862 – February 8, 1956), better known as Connie Mack, holds records for wins (3,731), losses (3,948), and games managed (7,755), with his victory total being almost 1,000 more than any other manager. Mack managed the Philadelphia Athletics for the club's first 50 seasons of play, starting in 1901, before retiring at age 87 following the 1950 season, and was at least part-owner from 1901 to 1954. He was the first manager to win the World Series three times, and is the only manager to win consecutive Series on separate occasions (1910–11, 1929–30); his five Series titles remain the third most by any manager, and his nine American League pennants rank second in league history. However, constant financial struggles forced repeated rebuilding of the roster, and Mack's teams also finished in last place 17 times. Mack was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1937.

Rich Adler, Mack, McGraw and the 1913 Baseball Season (Jefferson, NC: McFarland, 2008), p. 5: "Mack was born just before midnight on December 22, 1862, the second son and third child of Irish immigrants Michael McGillicuddy from County Kerry, and Mary McKillop."

Norman L. Macht, Connie Mack and the Early Years of Baseball (University of Nebraska Press, 2007), pp. 11-12: "Mary went into labor in the house on Main Street on the evening of Monday, December 22. Mary McCarty was with her. Between the mother's pain-filled screams and the newborn boy's crying, they did not notice when the town clock struck midnight. But five-year-old Michael junior, shooed out of the house, had no doubts. 'It was definitely before twelve when I went around telling people I had a brother,' he recalled."
