William March, 1893–1954 (American fiction writer and US Marine)

* William March, a writer of psychological fiction, authored six novels and four short-story collections. March was praised by critics but never attained great popularity.

March grew up in rural Alabama in a family so poor that he could not finish high school, and he did not earn a high school equivalency until he was 20. He later studied law but was again unable to afford to finish his studies. In 1917, while working in a Manhattan law office, he volunteered for the US Marines and saw action in World War I, for which he was decorated with some of the highest honors—the French Croix de Guerre, the American Distinguished Service Cross, and the U.S. Navy Cross. After the war he again worked in a law office before embarking on a financially successful business career.

He also began writing, first short stories, then in 1933 a novel based on his war experiences, Company K. His follow-up work was the "Pearl County" series, novels and short fiction set in his native south Alabama, the most successful of which is the novel The Looking-Glass. However, literary success eluded him. His last novel, The Bad Seed, was published in 1954, the year March died (on 15 May). It became a bestseller, but he never saw his story adapted first for the stage in 1954, and then for film in 1956 and 1985.

Simmonds (University of Alabama, 2011), p. 1: "It was here in Mobile, at three o'clock in the afternoon, September 18, 1893, in a house at the northwest corner of Broad and Conti Streets, that the second child of John Leonard Campbell and Susan March Campbell was born with a complete caul." Simmonds notes that various records including the family bible give 1894 but March insisted he was born in 1893.

Buster Keaton, 1895–1966 (American actor, vaudevillian, comedian, filmmaker, stunt performer, writer)

* "Buster" Keaton was best known for his silent films, in which his trademark was physical comedy with a consistently stoic, deadpan expression, earning him the nickname "The Great Stone Face."

Critic Roger Ebert wrote of Keaton's "extraordinary period from 1920 to 1929, [when] he worked without interruption on a series of films that make him, arguably, the greatest actor-director in the history of the movies."

His career declined afterward with a dispiriting loss of his artistic independence when he was hired by MGM, which resulted in a crippling alcoholism that ruined his family life. However, he recovered in the 1940s, remarried and revived his career to a degree as an honored comic performer for the rest of his life, earning an Academy Honorary Award in 1958.

Keaton died of lung cancer on 1 February 1966, aged 70, in Woodland Hills, California.

Then there was a long heavy silence, as though both the woman and the child had died. ... after that one and only shriek ... the dark obstinate head thrust out slowly ... [and the baby went] out into the world as quickly as it could."

Conchita Wurst (Austrian singer, fashion designer, gender illusionist)

* In May 2014 Conchita Wurst (AKA Tom Neuwirth) won the Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen with the song "Rise Like a Phoenix." An apt song title for her Scorpio stellium, including Sun conjunct Pluto. The gorgeous Conchita has Taurus rising ruled by Venus conjunct the Moon in Libra, surely showing excellent prospects for her fashion design career. With her trademark beard, she has an unusual appearance that challenges traditional concepts of gender and sexuality: Uranus in the 8th House quincunxes her Ascendant and in turn is ruled by Jupiter in her 1st House.

Michael Zühlke‏ (German pornstar)

* What does a guy need to become a pornstar? Michael Zühlke‏ (alias Pornfighter Long John) has a 23.5 cm (9.25 inch) genital appendage which no doubt helped, but certainly so did his Scorpio stellium including Mars in the 9th House. Sagittarius and the 9th are all about abundance and excess. Zühlke‏ has Pisces on his ascendant ruled by Neptune in Sagg in the 9th: he has performed in or produced 2300 erotic films. Venus on the MC in Sagittarius can translate into physical intimacy with a lot of young females. Zühlke claims to have had sex with 4888 women, many times in gang-bangs. For the sheer sake of pleasure, Jupiter in Taurus (in mutual reception with Venus on the MC) can make for one very happy and very lucky guy. And perhaps also, a very worn out one!
NATAL DATA and ASTROLOGY CHART

Update: Caesar Rodney (American lawyer and politician)

* According to Caesar Rodney's father's diary - the future President of Delaware during most of the American Revolution - was born while "there was no sole with her [his mother] but myself--being I believe [at] just about midnight" on 7 October 1728. The biography in which the diary is transcribed does not seem to state the calendar used by the biographer for the date, but thankyou to Alois Treindl for pointing out that the date was probably Old Style. I have checked and this seems correct. The updated data and chart are below.

Caesar Rodney (October 7, 1728 – June 26, 1784) was an American lawyer and politician from St. Jones Neck in Dover Hundred, Kent County, Delaware, east of Dover. He was an officer of the Delaware militia during the French and Indian War and the American Revolution, a Continental Congressman from Delaware, a signer of the Declaration of Independence and President of Delaware during most of the American Revolution.

SOURCE: Sy Scholfield (c) quotes Jane Scott, A gentleman as well as a Whig: Caesar Rodney and the American Revolution (University of Delaware Press, 2000), p. 16: "Caesar Rodney, the first child of Caesar Rodney, Sr. and Elizabeth Crawford Rodney was born shortly after midnight, on October 7, 1728. It is thought that his young parents were living in a small house owned by Elizabeth's father, not far from the Rodney farm at Byfield. According to Caesar Rodney, Sr.'s diary, the young father immediately sent for a midwife 'and other women,' but 'before aney came ye Child wass Born and it wass a Son.' As 'there was no sole with her but myself--being I believe just about midnight.'" NB: The calendar used is not specified, but the birth date of 7 october 1728 is stated as Old Style in Chase's Calendar of Events 2009 (McGraw Hill Professional, 2009), p. 497.
