Percy Sutton, 1920–2009 (American political and business leader, civil-rights activist and lawyer)

* Prominent African-American civil-rights activist Percy Sutton became one of America's best-known lawyers during the 1950s and 1960s. He represented many controversial figures, such as Nation of Islam leader, Malcolm X. After the murder of Malcolm X in 1965, Sutton and his brother Oliver helped to cover the expenses of his widow, Betty Shabazz.

Sutton was the highest-ranking African-American elected official in New York City when he was Manhattan borough president from 1966 to 1977, the longest tenure at that position. He later became an entrepreneur whose investments included the New York Amsterdam News and the Apollo Theater in Harlem.

In 1971, Sutton cofounded the Inner City Broadcasting Corporation which purchased New York City's WLIB-AM, the city's first African-American-owned radio station.

The handwritten time on the original record clearly states "AM" on 25 November but the numeral is indistinct, seems to be "12" which is consistent with a birth time of midnight between 24th and 25th, considering that the amendment filed by his mother in 1967 states his birth date as the 24th [https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X2YW-4QR].

Paul van Ostaijen, 1896–1928 (Belgian poet and writer)

* Paul van Ostaijen earned the nickname 'Mister 1830,' derived from his habit of walking along the streets of Antwerp clothed as a dandy from that year. His poetry shows influences from Modernism, Expressionism, Dadaism and early Surrealism, but Van Ostaijen's style is very much his own.

An active flamingant (a supporter of Flemish independence), he had to flee to Berlin after WW2. In Berlin—-one of the centers of Dadaism and Expressionism—-he met many other artists. He also struggled through a severe mental crisis. Upon returning to Belgium, Van Ostaijen opened an art gallery in Brussels. He died of tuberculosis on 18 March 1928 in a sanatorium in Miavoye-Anthée, in the Wallonian Ardennes.

Kate Bornstein (American author, playwright, performance artist, gender theorist)

* Having been designated male at birth and then received sex reassignment surgery in 1986, Kate Bornstein identifies as gender non-conforming, saying "I don't call myself a woman, and I know I'm not a man", and prefers the gender neutral pronouns "ze/hir" in place of "she/her" or "he/him".

Bornstein has written about having anorexia, being a survivor of PTSD and being diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. Bornstein has chronic lymphocytic leukemia and in September 2012 was diagnosed with lung cancer.

Tippi Hedren (American actress, fashion model, animal rights activist)

* Tippi Hedren was one of Alfred Hitchcock's ice-cool blondes, making her film debut in his suspense thriller The Birds followed by the title role in his psychological thriller Marnie. Hedren claims that Hitchcock was a sexual predator and control freak, who subjected her (and the birds?) to cruelty on the set. He also tried to destroy her career. Hitchcock's Mars is conjunct Hedren's Moon and his Scorpio Jupiter is conjunct her MC.

Hedren rejected Hitchcock's advances and went on to enjoy a successful career, appearing in over eighty films and TV shows. She has the feisty comination of Mars and Saturn straddling her Ascendant; with her Saturn square Hitchcock's Mars and her Mars quincunx his Pluto. This synastry made for quite a standoff.

Hedren also founded the non-profit Roar Foundation and Shambala Preserve, a sanctuary that houses some 70 animals. She is the mother of actress Melanie Griffith and grandmother of actress and model Dakota Johnson.

George Takei (American "Star Trek" actor, social media star, human rights activist)

* With his Aquarian Ascendant ruled by a virtually unaspected Uranus, George Takei embodies the Uranian spirit of science fiction culture, internet media, humanitarian politics and a unique sense of humour. Moreover, Mars in Sagittarius on his MC rules his Sun in the last degree of Aries, making him an outspoken pioneer and successful leader in these fields.

Takei is most widely known for his role as Lieutenant Sulu, helmsman of the spaceship Enterprise in the sci-fi TV series Star Trek (1966-1969) and six Star Trek feature films (1979-1991). Today he is a regular on the science fiction convention circuit throughout the world.

Takei came out publicly as gay in October 2005. In 2006, he embarked on a nationwide "Equality Trek" speaking tour sharing his life as a gay Japanese American, his 18-year relationship with (his now-husband) Brad Altman, and experiences on Star Trek, encouraging others to share their own personal stories. In 2008, Takei and Altman became the first same-sex couple to apply for a marriage licence in West Hollywood, and they were married on 14 September 2008.

Takei joined Facebook in 2011 and today his daily posts of humorous pictures (many of which are related to sci-fi, gay culture and political satire) have attracted over 8 million followers, such that he has been lauded as "the funniest guy on Facebook."

On his website, Takei declares: "My name is George Takei. Some know me as Mr. Sulu but I hope all know me as a believer in, and a fighter for, the equality and dignity of all human beings." Astrologically, his words and actions reveal him as a herald of the Age of Aquarius.

Lawrence Ferlinghetti (American poet, painter, activist, publisher)

* Lawrence Ferlinghetti is the co-founder of City Lights, an independent bookstore-publisher in San Francisco, California that specializes in world literature, the arts, and progressive politics. An author of poetry, translations, fiction, theatre, art criticism, and film narration, Ferlinghetti is best known for A Coney Island of the Mind (1958), a collection of poems that has been translated into nine languages, with sales of over one million copies. He is also famous for his trial and acquittal on obscenity charges for publishing Allen Ginsberg's influential poetry collection Howl and Other Poems (City Lights, 1956).

Ferlinghetti has a tight Cardinal T-square involving an opposition between the Moon and Pluto-Jupiter, with Chiron-Sun in Aries at the apex (ruled by Mars in Aries on the Descendant).

WIKIPEDIA BLURB

Though imbued with the commonplace, Ferlinghetti’s poetry is grounded in lyric and narrative traditions. Among his themes are the beauty of natural world, the tragicomic life of the common man, the plight of the individual in mass society, and the dream and betrayal of democracy. He counts among his influences T. S. Eliot, Ezra Pound, e. e. cummings, H.D., Marcel Proust, Charles Baudelaire, Jacques Prévert, Guillaume Apollinaire, and Blaise Cendrars. One of his poems, 'Two Scavengers in a Truck, Two Beautiful People in a Mercedes', is now a poem studied at GCSE level in England and Wales, as part of the collection of poems in the AQA Anthology. His famous poem "Just As I Used to Say', was published in 1976, when Ferlinghetti was aged 57.

Audre Lorde (New Astrology data and chart)

* Lesbian-feminist author, Audre Lorde — State Poet of New York from 1991 to 1992 — wrote that she was "born around 9pm on 2/18/34."

Audre Lorde (born Audrey Geraldine Lorde, February 18, 1934 – November 17, 1992) was a Caribbean-American writer and civil rights activist.

Lorde's poetry was published very regularly during the 1960s — in Langston Hughes' 1962 New Negro Poets, USA; in several foreign anthologies; and in black literary magazines. During this time, she was politically active in civil rights, anti-war, and feminist movements. Her first volume of poetry, The First Cities (1968), was published by the Poet's Press and edited by Diane di Prima, a former classmate and friend from Hunter College High School. Dudley Randall, a poet and critic, asserted in his review of the book that Lorde "does not wave a black flag, but her blackness is there, implicit, in the bone."

Her second volume, Cables to Rage (1970), which was mainly written during her tenure at Tougaloo College in Mississippi, addressed themes of love, betrayal, childbirth and the complexities of raising children. It is particularly noteworthy for the poem "Martha", in which Lorde poetically confirms her homosexuality: "[W]e shall love each other here if ever at all." Later books continued her political aims in lesbian and gay rights, and feminism. In 1980, together with Barbara Smith and Cherríe Moraga, she co-founded Kitchen Table: Women of Color Press, the first U.S. publisher for women of colour. Lorde was State Poet of New York from 1991 to 1992.
