* Hal Ashby is associated with the New Hollywood wave of filmmaking. He won the 1968 Oscar for Best Editing for the mystery drama In the Heat of the Night (1967) starring Sidney Poitier, Rod Steiger, and Warren Oates.

Kim Fowley (American record producer, singer, impresario, songwriter, musician, filmmaker, radio actor)

* Kim Fowley is best known for his role behind a string of novelty and cult pop rock singles in the 1960s, and for managing the all-female rock band The Runaways in the 1970s. He has the very musical and female combination of Venus in Cancer in the 4th House (at the apex of a Cardinal T-square involving an opposition of the ruling Moon and Jupiter). Fowley has been described as "one of the most colorful characters in the annals of rock & roll" and as "a shadowy cult figure well outside the margins of the mainstream." His tight T-square involves Mars in the last degree of Capricorn opposite Pluto in the first degree of Leo, all square Saturn in the first degree of Taurus. There's enough tension in that pattern alone to make for a very driven and compelling personality, not to mention Pluto conjunct Sun (his autobiography is called Lord of Garbage).

BIRTH DATA: Michael Francis Moore, 23 April 1954, 12:45 (12:45 p.m.), Flint, Michigan, USA (43n00, 83w41). ASC: 16 Leo. RR: A (from mother's memory). SOURCE: Sy Scholfield (c) quotes Michael Moore, Here Comes Trouble: Stories From My Life (London: Penguin, 2011): "Deafeningly close thunder exploded, and the lightning continued to flash into the unit. I looked at the clock: 12:45 a.m. For some reason, with all that was going on, it occurred to me that I was born at 12:45 (but in the p.m.). How did I know this? For every year of my adult life, no matter where I was, at exactly 12:45 p.m., my mother would call me to tell me this was the moment she gave birth to me." NB: Previously Astrodatabank quoted same timed data from birth certificate given by Moore's sister Ann/e (?) to Kasandra Green, a student of astrologer Edith Hathaway. Moore's statement confirms this data, straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak.

Ingmar Bergman, 1918–2007 (Swedish director, writer and producer for stage & screen)

* Ingmar Bergman ― described by Woody Allen as "probably the greatest film artist, all things considered, since the invention of the motion picture camera" ― had the artistic Sun rising and ruling cinematic Neptune in conjunction with Mercury and Saturn in masterly Leo. Furthermore, his Ascendant and unaspected Sun were in the Piscean decan and duad of Cancer while Neptune ruled his Pisces MC.

WIKIPEDIA BIOGRAPHY

Ernst Ingmar Bergman (14 July 1918 – 30 July 2007) is recognized as one of the most accomplished and influential film directors of all time. He directed over sixty films and documentaries for cinematic release and for television, most of which he also wrote. He also directed over one hundred and seventy plays. Among his company of actors were Harriet Andersson, Liv Ullmann, Gunnar Björnstrand, Bibi Andersson, Erland Josephson, Ingrid Thulin and Max von Sydow. Most of his films were set in the landscape of Sweden. His major subjects were death, illness, faith, betrayal, bleakness and insanity.

Bergman was active for more than six decades. In 1976, his career was seriously threatened as the result of a botched criminal investigation for alleged income tax evasion. Outraged, Bergman suspended a number of pending productions, closed his studios, and went into self-imposed exile in West Germany for eight years.

Stefan Lorant (Filmmaker, photojournalist, author)

* Stefan Lorant's mother wrote in her Jewish prayer book: 'Stefan our Son born 1901, February 22nd, 6.00 a.m. God's Blessing should accompany his dear life.'

Stefan (Istvan) Lorant (February 22, 1901 in Budapest, Hungary - November 14, 1997 in Rochester, Minnesota) was a pioneering Hungarian-American filmmaker, photojournalist, and author.

After completing high school in his native Hungary in 1919, Lorant moved to Germany, where he made his mark in films and photojournalism. His first film, The Life of Mozart, established him as a filmmaker, and he went on to make 14 films in Vienna and Berlin, some of which he wrote, directed, and photographed. He claimed to have given Marlene Dietrich her first film test, and though he rejected her for the part, they remained lifelong friends. Lorant's abilities in writing and still photography led to the editorship of the Münchner Illustrierte Presse, one of Germany's finest picture magazines.

Opposed to Adolf Hitler, Lorant was imprisoned right after Hitler came to power. Released after six months, he made his way to England, where he wrote I Was Hitler's Prisoner, a memoir that sold out many printings. He edited the Weekly Illustrated, a popular British picture magazine, then founded Lilliput, made famous by his clever picture juxtapositions, as in Neville Chamberlain versus the llama. On October 1, 1938, Lorant co-founded with publisher Sir Edward G. Hulton the first great British picture magazine, Picture Post. During this time, Lorant published a Picture Post Special about the United States.

Failing to obtain British citizenship, Lorant moved to Lenox, Massachusetts in July 1940, where he lived the remainder of his life. Tom Hopkinson succeeded Lorant as editor of Picture Post.
