* The Andrews Sisters were a close harmony singing group of the swing and boogie-woogie eras. The group consisted of three sisters: contralto LaVerne (1911–1967), soprano Maxene (1916–1995), and mezzo-soprano Patty (1918–2013).
Throughout their long career, the sisters sold well over 75 million records. Their 1941 hit "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" is an early example of rhythm and blues or jump blues. This iconic World War II tune has been covered by the likes of Bette Midler and Christina Aguilera.
Despite their harmonious singing, the three sisters often bickered and Patty eventually split from the group in 1951. The sisters reunited privately and professionally in 1956.
Patty blamed the sour relationship among the sisters squarely on Maxene, saying: "Ever since I was born, Maxene has been a problem." Patty had 6° Scorpio on the cusp of her 7th house (of relationships), which conjoined Maxene's 12th cusp (5° Scorpio) and LaVerne's Jupiter-South Node (4-7° Scorpio). Perhaps Patty had a larger role in the sisters' personal issues than she was willing to acknowledge!
