Hugh Ramsay, 1877-1906 (Australian artist)

* Hugh Ramsay was one of Australia's leading portraitists. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, he moved with his family to Melbourne, Australia in 1878. A trip to Europe in September 1900 led to study in Paris, France, but suffering from tuberculosis, he soon returned to Australia where he died aged 28. Ramsay's major works include The Sisters and Lady with a Fan.

He had Cancer rising ruled by Moon in intimate Scorpio: "He was close to his family and, of his large output from ten years of active work, they are often his subjects."
